Best Time to Visit Barbados

Between December and April is widely considered the best time to visit Barbados, but it's also when the prices are at their height. This is when hurricane season ends, the dry season begins, and many tourists begin returning to the area, meaning much larger crowds.

Between May and June is also a good time to visit Barbados, prices will still be relatively high but they'll have dropped by around 25% compared to December-April. Crowds will continue to drop towards the end of the season going in to hurricane season.

Between July and November is the height of hurricane season, but in Barbados, this isn't really much of an issue. Prices will drop as much as 50% in this season and many restaurants and hotels will continue to be open. There will be brief rains many days of this season but they rarely last the whole day and Barbados makes up for this in a ton of island festivities. Also, hurricanes rarely hit Barbados but make sure to keep up to date with the hurricanes in the area so you can be sure to avoid them on the off chance they come close to Barbados. Additionally, the temperatures between the dry and wet season doesn't change much.
Dry Versus Wet (Hurricane) Season in Barbados

The dry season in Barbados lines up with the high tourism season between December and May. The average temperature during the dry season is generally a comfortable mid 70's degrees Fahrenheit (mid 20's degrees Celsius).

The wet season, or hurricane season begins in June and continues until November in Barbados with September and October being the most humid months and having the highest risk for hurricanes. The reason it's not a bad time to travel to Barbados during this season is the island hasn't experienced any significant hurricanes since Hurricane Janet in 1955. But there will still be mild tropical storms that may hinder, but are not likely to ruin your trip. The average temperature during the wet season is generally the same as during the dry season but a little bit warmer and more humid with averages in the high 70's-mid 80's degrees Fahrenheit (high 20's degrees Celsius).
Best Barbados Small Ship Cruise Lines for 2024-2025

  • Silversea Cruises - is the gold standard of luxury cruising, thanks to its iconic European lifestyle and global reach, with locations ranging from Barbados to the Caribbean and Central America. Silver Wind offers all-inclusive voyages, ocean-view staterooms, incredible culinary experiences, and service with a nearly one-to-one crew-to-guest ratio.
  • Star Clippers Americas - introduce passengers to the excitement of sailing on a truly tall ship from Barbados to the Caribbean. Royal Clipper's routes are determined by wind charts, which allows the boat to sail 70% to 90% of the time. They have been recognized as the World's Greenest cruise line for years.
  • Ponant - the luxury French expedition line, based Le Dumont-d'Urville in Barbados for most of its Caribbean excursions, such as the Pearls of the Caribbean.
  • Sea Cloud Cruises - has always maintained the true value of windjammers, where sails are still set by hand. It is always a spectacular moment when the sailors climb the rigging, loosen the heavy cloth, and powerfully tension the deck lines. Nothing happens at the push of a button. Sail from Barbados round-trip on the classic 58-guest Sea Cloud.
