Day 2: Sepilok - Rainforest Discovery Center

In the morning, go to the Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Center. Following a brief introduction to the center's significant projects, take a 10-minute stroll into the rainforest to see the orangutans being fed before seeing them at the outdoor nursery. You then proceed to the Sun Bear Conservation Center, which is quite nearby, to learn more about the world's tiniest bears.

Afterward, explore the adjoining elevated canopy walkway, which is suspended 25 meters above the ground, at the Rainforest Discovery Centre (RDC). After dusk, take a supervised night walk to look for nocturnal animals. Go back to the hotel.

Day 3: Sandakan - Sukau Rainforest Lodge

After lunch, head to the dock to board a speedboat for the 2.5-hour trip to the multiple-award-winning Sukau Rainforest Lodge, where you'll get the chance to see wildlife and birds. Take a riverboat to look for animals and birds. Enjoy a romantic supper by candlelight while watching the river, followed by a slide presentation and explanation from a naturalist guide. A night is spent at the Sukau Rainforest Lodge.

Day 4: Sukau Rainforest Lodge

Rise and shine for the morning river cruise up the Kinabatangan River to Kelenanap oxbow lake to view more birds and wildlife. After breakfast, join in the nature walk along the lodge's Hornbill Boardwalk with the in-house naturalist. After lunch, it will be free at leisure. In the afternoon, proceed for another river cruise for more wildlife. Overnight at the Sukau Rainforest Lodge.

Day 5: Sukau Rainforest Lodge

Spend the day at your leisure or select from a large range of extra tours that are offered. Check out their add-on tours. Sukau Rainforest Lodge is a great place to spend the night.

Day 6: Sukau Rainforest Lodge - Lahad Datu - Borneo Rainforest Lodge

Get up early and get ready to go to Danum Valley. After having breakfast, drive for two hours to Lahad Datu before continuing to the award-winning Borneo Rainforest Lodge. Upon arrival, check in and have lunch. Attend a slide show and go on a nature trail that leads to a canopy walkway in the evening. If the weather is favorable, go spotlighting to see some of the night creatures. Stay the night at the Borneo Rainforest Lodge in a standard room.

Day 7: Borneo Rainforest Lodge

Spend the entire day searching the forest for wildlife and birds before ascending to an escarpment with old gravestones. Trek to a waterfall and cool off in the rock pools. After having lunch, re-enter the lodge. Investigate more paths in the afternoon. Spend the night at the Borneo Rainforest Lodge.

The trip might have been the absolute best of our lifetime (thus far). We particularly want to commend our guide Peter in the Guilin area-he was so incredibly attentive, energetic, enthusiastic-and absolutely dedicated to ensuring that our meals were 100% vegetarian.
