Enjoy a stay in the more remote section of South Luangwa National Park with a stay at Bilimungwe Bushcamp. Situated in the more remote portion of South Luangwa National Park, it is built under a mahogany grove which keeps the camp cool in the shade of the trees. The heart of the camp is the rustic lounge area which overlooks one of the camp's three main waterholes known to particularly attract wart hogs and elephant. The camp is powered by solar panels and hot water showers are powered by solar energy.
Bilimungwe's four raised thatched rooms have been carefully designed to ensure the height of comfort whilst still retaining that authentic bushcamp feel. The tangle of mature mahogany trees that surround camp are echoed in the rich, wood interiors and the beautiful wooden furniture, handmade by local artisans. Bright African textiles bring splashes of colour to the elegant rooms. After an early morning game drive, head back to your room for a refreshing, open-air waterfall shower, or continue the wildlife spectacle from your private deck. Two of the chalets have twin beds (queen-sized beds), while the other two each have a king bed. Bilimungwe sleeps up to eight guests and is open from May to December.
Watch wildlife from the open air lounge that come to the area's watering holes near the shores of the Luangwa River. Enjoy a sundowner at the end of the day as you observe this nature lover's paradise. Daytime activities while at the camp include game drives, walking guided safaris (must be 12 years or older), and night drives to spot those species who prefer to avoid the sun. Our guide and driver were very good with their knowledge and were very helpful with our questions. It was a very pleasant visit that would have been impossible to do on our own. Hotels and restaurants were fantastic. The special places we got to go to, like the kitchens, were great. Enjoyed the entire trip!
