Day 1: Full Day Tour of Colonia

This morning, your transfer picks you up at the hotel and takes you to the ferry terminal for the one-hour ferry to Colonia, Uruguay. Arrive in Colonia and meet your guide. A visit to the historic center of Colonia del Sacramento is like a walk back in time. Founded in 1680 by the Portuguese, this old colonial town is renowned for its cobbled, windy streets and colorful houses reminiscent of old Lisbon. This is an exciting opportunity to visit the best sights of the city of Colonia. Due to its colonial beginnings, the city's layout is different from the majority of Uruguayan cities. Its cobbled streets and houses alternate with small bars, excellent restaurants, art and craft shops, museums, and a large yacht harbor. In the evening take the ferry back to Buenos Aires and transfer to the hotel.

This is a full-day visit to Colonia with a three-hour city tour with a guide and an afternoon to explore on your own. The trip can be customized based on the specific interests of the group, but travelers often visit the beach promenade, Real de San Carlos with its bullfighting arena, the Old Town, and museums.

Our guide and driver were very good with their knowledge and were very helpful with our questions. It was a very pleasant visit that would have been impossible to do on our own. Hotels and restaurants were fantastic. The special places we got to go to, like the kitchens, were great. Enjoyed the entire trip!
