Day 1: Travel to Kenai Riverside Lodge

Today you meet your guide at a downtown Anchorage hotel at 2:30 PM. Set out on the scenic drive south along the Turnagain Arm to Cooper Landing in the Chugach National Forest. Arrive to the lodge just in time for dinner. Settle into your overnight at Kenai Riverside Lodge.

Day 2: Travel to Kenai Fjords Glacier Lodge

Set off from Cooper Landing this morning and travel along the main highway through Chugach National Forest to the picturesque coastal town of Seward. This small fishing village is predominantly a fishery port and convenient location for tourists to access the Kenai Fjords National Park and railway.  Board a catamaran for Kenai Fjords Glacier Lodge, which is home to breathtaking glaciers and abundant marine life including whales, Stellar sea lions, sea otters, puffins and more. The four hour cruise allows you time to observe the stunning scenery and watch the coastlines for wildlife. Enjoy lunch in front of a tidewater glacier before you arrive at the lodge. Kenai Glacier Fjords Lodge is located on the shore of a protected tidal lagoon and offers miles of pristine beachfront with views of the Pedersen Glacier. Meet the lodge guides this afternoon and get acquainted with the property. Settle into your private cabin and enjoy a welcome dinner tonight.

Day 3-4: Kenai Fjords National Park

These days are spent at your leisure planning your activities based on the weather and your preferences. Every morning after breakfast you will meet in the main lodge to choose from an array of activities being offered that day. Guided tours include interpretive nature trail walks, or exploring the waters by canoe or sea kayak. If you prefer, you can also relax at the lodge and peruse the natural history library or take a leisurely stroll along the beachfront.

Day 5: Return Seward

Enjoy your last morning at Kenai Fjords Glacier Lodge with one more chance to canoe or kayak before you set off by boat to Seward. Travel by boat this afternoon and arrive early evening in time to check into your new accommodations and get settled for the evening at Seward Windsong Lodge.

Day 6: Wilderness Dog Sled & Exit Glacier | Return Anchorage

Spend a leisurely morning at the lodge today before setting out on a mid-morning dog sled adventure tour! Take a two-mile dog sled ride and experience the power and energy of these beautiful creatures as they are harnessed to wheeled sleds. Return to the kennel and meet the other sled dogs, including any adorable and cuddly husky puppies.

After grabbing lunch in town, you meet up at the lobby at Seward Windsong Lodge for a two hour tour of the nearby Exit Glacier. Descending from the Harding Ice Field to Resurrection River, this is an easily accessible glacier in this region and another must-see. Your guide provides insight into the natural history of the area including the topography, vegetation, and habitats within the glacial environment. Walk on the glacier and possibly along the Overlook Loop or Nature Trail.

Early this evening travel to the rail depot and ride the Alaska Rail back to Anchorage.

Day 7: Return Home

Beyond expectations! Then again we weren't sure what to expect. Lovely stay at the lodge, met other like-minded travelers (many had their trips planned by Adventure Life) and the owner was a gracious hostess. It felt like you were one happy family, visiting with a favorite aunt.
