Day 1: Arrive in Nairobi | The Residences at Karen

Land on the flight of your choice in the bustling Kenyan capital city of Nairobi. Meet your driver upon arrival and, after a short program briefing, transfer to the Karen Residence tucked away in the leafy Karen suburb. Enjoy dinner at the club (cost on own) before retiring to your room for a restful night's sleep.

Day 2: Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge, Nakuru

Check out after breakfast and meet your driver guide who transfer you for excursions in the surrounding Karen Suburbs. Spend about an hour on your first stop at Giraffe Centre.

Visitors can hand-feed these gentle giants at eye level from a raised platform while watching the warthogs below snuffle around looking for titbits. After that, drive a short distance to Daphne Sheldricks' Elephant Orphanage, where you can see the many baby elephants rescued from dangerous situations in Kenya's various national parks, as well as the calves being fed and playing with the staff.

Then visit the Karen Blixen Museum and step back in time to see the famous Karen Blixen's house as it was when she lived in Kenya. The museum is located in an area that was once part of Karen Blixen's vast coffee estate, "bogani," and was Karen's home from 1917 to 1931. The Danish community of Kenya has restored the house and grounds that were made famous by the film "Out of Africa." Visitors get a glimpse of typical colonial life in Kenya at the turn of the twentieth century.

Enjoy lunch at the lovely Karen Blixen Coffee Gardens before continuing to the next part of your adventure, which takes you from Nairobi's hustle and bustle to Lake Nakuru.

Day 3: Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge, Nakuru

Spend the entire day at Lake Nakuru. Enjoy the morning and afternoon game drive.

Day 4: Fig Tree Camp, Masai Mara

Today you set out for what likely be the highlight of your trip: the world-renowned Masai Mara. Widely known as one of Africa's greatest wildlife reserves, you find acacia dotted plains, meandering rivers, lush woodlands and, of course, an abundance of wildlife. Game viewing in the Masai Mara is spectacular year-round; keep your eyes peeled for a lion stalking their prey, a herd of elephant stomping through the grass or a pod of hippos wallowing in the rivers. The great wildebeest migration also passes through this area, and those visiting during the right time of year see an estimated two million wildebeest as they migrate through Kenya and Tanzania.

After a full day of game viewing you return to your tented safari camp. Enjoy an evening under the stars.

Day 5-6: Fig Tree Camp, Masai Mara

The next two days are spent exploring the Masai Mara in search of wildlife and other natural wonders. Your expert guide do their best to ensure all must-sees are spotted and captured on camera! For those wishing to participate in optional activities such as a hot air balloon ride, please inquire with your trip planner.

Retire to camp peaceful evenings under the expansive Kenyan sky, exchanging stories from the day.

Day 7: Return to Nairobi

  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch
Today you turn back toward Nairobi, stopping for one last photo opportunity at the Rift Valley. Your tour ends at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport after a hearty lunch at the famous Carnivore Restaurant. Return home on the flight of your choice, full of memories from the week on safari!

The trip might have been the absolute best of our lifetime (thus far). We particularly want to commend our guide Peter in the Guilin area-he was so incredibly attentive, energetic, enthusiastic-and absolutely dedicated to ensuring that our meals were 100% vegetarian.
