Day 1: Arrive Puerto Montt - Petrohue River Rafting

Arrive at Puerto Montt in the morning. You are met at the airport and set off towards Puerto Varas, about 15 minutes away on the shore of Lake Llanquihue. Have some free time to rest and have a light lunch before heading to the river!

After lunch, at your hotel meet the van that takes you to the Petrohue sector in Perez Rosales National Park. Drive towards the Park, located at the foot of Osorno Volcano next to the flowing turquoise waters of the Petrohue river. Upon arrival, meet your skilled guides who equip you in the necessary rafting gear (wetsuit, helmet, paddle jacket, and life jacket) and then provide safety instructions. Mount the rafts and start paddling down this beautiful class III river, enjoying the rapids and the scenic views. After the river adventure have a snack on the river banks and then return to Puerto Varas.

Day 2: Hike Perez Rosales National Park

Today explore Perez Rosales National Park, the first-named national park in all of Chile which includes the glacier topped Osorno Volcano. Drive through picturesque farms along Todos Los Santos lake to the Saltos de Petrohue, a lookout to the rushing waters of the Petrohue River cascading over ancient lava flows into emerald pools below. Continue on to a nearby walking trail on the lower slopes of the volcano and ascend (approx 3 hours) to get a view of the turquoise waters of Todos Los Santos Lake. Take in numerous breathtaking vistas on your hike of the other nearby volcanoes and beautiful scenery. Enjoy a picnic lunch on your hike before returning the same way back to your vehicle and Puerto Varas.

Day 3: Bike along Lake Llanquihue

Today mount up on bikes with your guide and ride along the lakeshore from Puerto Varas towards Frutillar, which started as a German settlement that still has many old buildings from previous generations. Pass turn of the century houses, quiet bays, and stunning views over the three volcanoes across Lake Llanquihue, Chile's second-largest. Ride into some well-preserved areas of Frutillar before you are met by a van that brings you back to Puerto Varas. Total ride time: 2.5-3 hours.

Day 4: Adios Lake District

  • 1 Breakfast

The trip might have been the absolute best of our lifetime (thus far). We particularly want to commend our guide Peter in the Guilin area-he was so incredibly attentive, energetic, enthusiastic-and absolutely dedicated to ensuring that our meals were 100% vegetarian.
