Welcome to the easternmost coast of North America, in Canada's frigid north in Newfoundland & Labrador. Traverse the same territory where Leif Erikson is believed to have led his Viking exploration in the 10th century, and check out L'Anse aux Meadows, one of the oldest, best-preserved archaeological sites in Canada. Or explore the vast green wilderness of Gros Morne National Park or Sable Island. Expeditions through this culturally rich corner of Canada will acquaint you with all manner of wildlife, like giant moose & wild horses. The fjords that highlight the northern part of this region are the foreground of impressive mountainous landscapes. While we mainly focus on cruises of this region, our travel experts can also help you arrange for a land-based exploration of the Torngat Mountains as well.

Newfoundland & Labrador Travel FAQs

In the far northeast of Canada's Arctic territory, you find Newfoundland and Labrador. It is considerably more isolated than the more developed parts of Canada and therefore some of the expectations you might have for the rest of the country aren't true here. On the other hand, it does belong to Canada, so many of the general FAQs can be found at the bottom of our Canada page.

What is the internet access like in Newfoundland & Labrador?
Unless you are on a vessel that is equipped with WiFi, you should not expect to have consistent WiFi access, and many expeditions do not have internet access at all.

Can I use my cell phone while in Newfoundland & Labrador?
Unless you are in a developed part of Newfoundland & Labrador like a town and you have mobile roaming turned on, it is unlikely that you will be able to use your cell phone.

Do I need a power adapter/ converter?
Canada has 110V power with the same sockets as those in the United States. If you are traveling from another part of the world, you will need a power adapter/ converter to use the outlets.

What are the toilets like in Newfoundland & Labrador?
Canada has modern flushing toilets.

Can I drink the water in Newfoundland & Labrador?
It is safe to drink the tap water throughout all of Canada unless otherwise indicated.

Should I purchase travel insurance for my trip?
Yes, always! Read more about travel insurance on our Once You've Booked page.
