Set out on a week-long kayaking trip through Belize's southern barrier reef. Before paddling over submerged coral reefs and through mangroves at Tobacco Caye, start with instructional and safety material. While en route to Southwater Caye, practice sailing your kayak. From atop your kayak, have an incredible view of a variety of marine creatures due to the shallow waters. If that isn't close enough, try snorkeling or scuba diving along the inner and outer walls.

Day 1: Arrive Belize

Arrive at the Belize International Airport where you will be met by an Island Expeditions representative and transferred to the  Bocawina Rainforest Lodge in the foothills of the Maya Mountains. This boutique lodge in the midst of a 700 acre Bocawina National Park offers a quintessential tropical rainforest experience. After settling into your forest cabanas you have a chance to meet your fellow travelers over dinner in the rainforest at the acclaimed Wild Fig restaurant.

Day 2-4: Glover's Basecamp

After breakfast, travel by boat charter 38 miles offshore of the mainland, to Glovers Reef Atoll. We check into our furnished tent cabanas, enjoy lunch al fresco, then guides provide professional instruction - teaching sea kayaking, SUP, snorkeling, and safety in tropical seas, before heading out on the water. Explore the Atoll by SUP and sea kayak with motorboat support. For the next 3 days, you can expect to be pampered by our staff with delicious food and enjoy perfect days of clear turquoise waters, coral reefs, and a full range of activities to choose from each day

Day 5-6: Tobacco Caye

For the next stage of the adventure, head to the 17,000-acre Southwater Caye Marine Reserve on the Southern Barrier Reef. Based on Tobacco Caye Paradise Lodge, your next two-day playground is a fairy-tale setting of palm trees, coral islands, mangrove forests, and abundant coral reefs. Each evening, back at your lodge,  take in the friendly laid back ‘Island Culture’ of Belize

Day 7: Return Home

  • 1 Breakfast
After an early breakfast your water taxi carries us back to the mainland and the town of Dangriga where the trip finishes. Any extra luggage that you have stored at the operations base, will be made available to you to repack and taxis can be arranged to your connecting flight to the Belize International Airport, or local bus stations to continue exploring Belize.

Kate was great to work with in the planning stage. She was prompt, helpful, and efficient. Our tour guide, Edwin, was knowledgeable and passionate. We were very happy to have traveled with Adventure Life, it made the trip easy and a true pleasure. We could concentrate on enjoying the experience rather than the details of travel.
