San Ignacio's 300 km ruin offers an opportunity to learn about early Jesuit missions and their practices from a local guide who is well-versed in the area.

Day 1: San Ignacio Ruins

Declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, these ruins depict the history of the first Spanish that settled here. Explore the central plaza, the church, the mission house, workshops, town hall, and the hospital. The buildings were constructed using local red sandstone. The settlement is said to house anywhere from 3000-6000 people in its prime. When the Jesuit missionaries, the indigenous people were forced to camps surrounding the main village. Your guide takes you through the ruins and explains the great history of these people.
