This tukul styled hotel claims to be the highest hotel in Africa and is located at the start of the main trekking trail to Mount Bwahit. Many visitors to the Simiens will stop by here, if even just for a day use to have lunch and trek around the area before returning to Gondar. The hotel does offer tent and sleeping bag rentals and can assist travelers in obtaining guide service for the treks along the escarpment.
The restaurant typically provides international cuisine and can accommodate for specific dietary requests. An a la carte menu of Ethiopian and European food is served all day. The bar has recently been updated as well providing comfortable chairs and a fireside ambiance to help guests unwind at the end of the day. Typically a lecture, discussion, or informational video are presented by staff in the evenings for those desiring to learn a bit more about the Simien Mountains and her species.
Each of the 26 rooms rooms are housed in half of a tukul, or traditional circular village "huts". They are spacious with two twin beds (two have a double bed instead), bathroom with shower, solar powered heated floor and a sheltered balcony. It is advised that guests also bring many layers of clothing, as it can get chilly in the mountains at night.
Our guide and driver were very good with their knowledge and were very helpful with our questions. It was a very pleasant visit that would have been impossible to do on our own. Hotels and restaurants were fantastic. The special places we got to go to, like the kitchens, were great. Enjoyed the entire trip!

I have travelled with Adventure Life previously and certainly eager to do it again. Kassandra made excellent and honest suggestions while taking the time to understand what was important to us.
