Involves minimal physical effort and is typically associated with leisurely activities. Activities are low-intensity or last less than a few hours each day.
Start your journey by boarding the highland bus from the BSI bus terminal, which will drive you to the beautiful glacier valley of Þórsmörk. Pass the picturesque villages of Selfoss, Hella, and Hvolsvöllur on the route. Then, get off the bus at Básar hut, where you lodge for the next three nights. After lunch, your first hike will be to visit Álfakirkja (church of elves), a unique rock formation with a small cave underneath, and hike either into the beautiful Hvannárgil valley or Mt. Réttarfell. Return to your hut in time to prepare dinner.

Active walking time: 3-4 hrs.
Ascent and descent 400 m (1312')
Ascend the hills towards Fimmvörðuháls Pass, walking along Kattarhryggir ridges. Admire Útigönguhöfði mountain and Morinsheiði heath. See the lava stream from Fimmvörðuháls volcano and reach Magni and Móði craters. Return to Þórsmörk for dinner and another night in your hut, enjoying the glacier views.

Ascent/descent 1000 m (3280')
Today, hike a scenic trail with an extraordinary view over Goðaland, the glaciers, and the inner part of Þórsmörk. You start the hike by crossing the Krossá River on footbridges. Then, proceed into the Slyppugil Valley and towards Tindfjallagil, where you can find a unique rock formation with a small cave underneath called Tröllakirkja (church of trolls). Heading down, follow the banks of the Krossá River until you find the bridge, and return to your hut for a delicious barbeque feast!

In the morning, explore Þórsmörk and climb up Valahnúkur mountain for stunning views. Descend to Sönghellir (Song cave) and Húsadalur before returning to Langidalur. Catch the afternoon bus to Reykjavík, arriving at Reykjavik BSI bus terminal by 19:20.
